Near's Golden Years

Dave

Programme Name:
Near’s Golden Years. Saturday 8.00am – 9.30am

(Repeated Wednesday 6.30am – 8.00am)

Presenter Name:
Dave O Connor

How did you get involved with Near ?:
I’ve been presenting programmes since 1985. yes, I really am that old! I started off in the pirate days (North Dublin Community Radio), making youth programmes. Spent 10 years at Beaumont Hospital Radio, but at heart I was a community radio fiend. Since 1995, I’ve enjoyed many hours, making programmes, both music and talk, and playing with all sorts on the production side.

Favourite Type of Music:
Everything really. My kids keep me up to date with the latest music ( I know, that sounds really old!!) I love oldies, the sixties in particular. Really like british groups such as The Hollies, The Kinks, Hermins Hermits, and of course The Beatles. But, my all time favourites would be a great Genesis album – Trick of the Tail comes to mind.

How can listeners get involved?:
Text or email me with your golden memories, the programme is entirely based on what was happening in the music world this week, way back then!! And follow me on twitter @oconnear

What other programmes on Near fm do you like to listen to?:
Too many too mention (very diplomatic!!), but I do like Ska Patrol, The Album Show and The Brief.
