This Sporting Life: The Story of Minority Sport in North Dublin
This Sporting Life is an upbeat and lively series of short documentaries which capture the excitement and dedication of minority sports people and encourages others to join in. Each programme serves as an introduction to a different minority sport practiced in Northside Dublin.
March 2012 was when the Irish media and public really discovered hockey when both the Irish men’s and women’s teams got to within one win of qualifying for the 2012 London Olympic Games. 12 months on from those agonising near misses Near FM’s Niamh Griffin went along to Clontarf Hockey Club to see if all that attention had helped the profile of the game of hockey in Ireland.
