Reminiscence: 1956: with your host Karen Meenan and guests

1956 was the year that Elvis was crowned the King of Rock and Roll with his worldwide hit ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ recorded when he was just 21.  Ronnie Delany was also 21 that year when he won a gold medal in the Melbourne Olympics.  Ron Carey, an award-winning poet from Limerick remembers the Hungarian Uprising when his father worked on the housing estate in Ballynanty where the Hungarian refugees settled and his family moved as a small boy.  Breda Swan grew up in a tenement in Dublin City and moved to London, returning home a decade later with six children.  Breda is writing her memoirs and Ron has just released his second book of poetry ‘Racing Down the Sun’.
