Culture Shots celebrates international women’s day through interviews with women who’ve taken positive steps towards real solutions to issues of gender inequality.
First up Mariaam Bhatti interviews Ifrah Ahmed about campaigning against FGM in Ireland, where her strength comes from, and what international women’s day means to her.
Hailuu Netsiyanwa and Mariaam Bhatti speak to people on Moore Street about what international women’s day means and the women who inspire them.
Later on, Eoin Drinan interviews Mairead Cullen about her radio documentary, “New Beginnings,” which explores alternative rite of passage rituals to replace Female Genital Mutilation in Londiani Kenya.
Also featuring music by Antony and the Johnsons and Edit Piaf.
